A mission project of the United Methodist Church

The need for safe, affordable housing is great in the Appalachian counties of southeast Ohio. With volunteer labor and donations to cover materials, Jackson Area Ministries has been able to build a house to replace a mobile home that was deteriorated beyond repair. Funding has begun for a second house.
Our goal is to encourage youth to learn to serve Christ by serving others. Building wheelchair ramps and repairing houses are ways we help families remain in their homes. Our work camp projects are guided by our mission statement: The vision of Jackson Area Ministries is to improve the quality of living within our region.
Since 1972 Jackson Area Ministries has been distributing vegetable seeds to persons and/or families. This ministry enables the growers to increase both the quantity and the quality of their available food. The number of gardeners continues to increase in the 18-county area we serve in southeast Ohio.
